Romanian-American Yellow Pages serves a purpose greater than the usual business directory.
It is also an almanac and encyclopedia for Romanian history and culture. "A little bit unusual, but rather interesting," notes Steven V. Bonica, Senior Editor. "This book presents certain aspects about Romania, Romanians and Romanian-American communities. Four pages in the social-cultural section are dedicated to Nadia." Nadia has been a visible symbol of Romania since she first stunned the world at the Montreal games in 1976. Living in America now for almost 10 years, and marrying an American, has not faded the connection in everyone's mind associating her and Romania. The contents of the book includes a letter from George Ryan, Govenor of Illinois, a foreward by Mr. Bonica, maps, pictures, and articles on food, tourism, Dracula, and tips for U.S. visas. Also contained is a section about the Romanian-American relationship, including a piece by James Rosapepe, U.S. Ambassador to Romania. The distribution was launched in Romania at the Victory Palace (the Romanian Government's headquarters) on May 12th 1999. The U.S. Ambassador was present along with a number of officials representing the Romanian Government. |
